Position: Senior Engineer – VC‑25B Program (Presidential & Executive Airlift Directorate).
This role involves translating user requirements into system requirements and supporting the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the VC‑25B aircraft and related systems for eventual deployment.
Responsibilities- Translate user and mission requirements into weapons and system specifications.
- Support design, development, testing, and evaluation activities for the VC‑25B program.
- Perform test planning and sustainment operations for aircraft subsystems.
- Participate in FAA and Air Force certification processes.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environments.
- Climb ladders and tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variations as required.
- 15 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 13 years with a Master’s; or 10 years with a Ph.D. or J.D. in a related field.
- Experience in the design, development, and integration of commercial derivatives or military transport aircraft.
- Technical knowledge of air vehicle subsystems including Environmental Control Systems (ECS), fire protection, and Auxiliary Power Units (APU).
- Experience with test planning and sustainment operations.
- Familiarity with FAA and Air Force certification processes.
- Evaluation skills: review engineering change notices/proposals, contract modifications, and program risk assessments.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
- Commercial Derivative Aircraft Experience.
- Airworthiness & Compliance expertise applying MIL‑HDBK‑516C criteria and military airworthiness processes.
- Knowledge of FARs, NPRMs, ADs, and AMOCs for certification and compliance.
- Systems Engineering experience: conduct trade‑off assessments, translate requirements, and support design/test activities.
- Documentation and review experience: prepare/review technical evaluations, engineering studies, acquisition strategies, RFPs, test plans, and ATPs.
- Team support: participate in project meetings and reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FCA, PCA, PMR, etc.).
- Performance analysis: support cost, life‑cycle, maintainability, reliability, risk, and scheduling trade‑offs.
