Environmental Compliance, Environmental Engineer
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain regional environmental compliance programs for implementation at all sites within North America.
- Provide technical/compliance support and training to site EHS/Environmental Managers for completion of permit applications, environmental reports, stack testing plans, and other environmental and sustainability matters.
- Develop and implement audit programs for Management Systems and EHS regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
- Act as the Regional Management Representative for the development, maintenance, and implementation of Management Systems covering all manufacturing sites and serve as liaison for third‑party auditors/registrars to maintain all regional Management System certificates, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Coordinate with engineering and R&D to provide input into environmental risk evaluations for projects involving new or modified processes at all sites. Work with project teams and external consultants to secure all required environmental permits for major projects (e.g., Furnace Cold Repairs, Pollution Control System installations, New Production lines, etc.) and assist sites with other regulatory requirements triggered by the projects.
- Support the compliance activities of the plants through effective communication and review of environmental requirements with site/SBU management and/or outside agencies.
- Coordinate the collection of environmental site data to report and communicate on regional progress toward the NSG group’s environmental and sustainability objectives and provide regional input to global environmental and sustainability reporting processes (Integrated Reports, CSRD report, etc.).
- Coordinate with NSG Leadership Teams, Customer Support Representatives, and the Global Sustainability function to respond to customer ESG surveys and requests in a timely manner and consistent with other Group External Reports.
- Adhere to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
- Routinely interacts with NSG Group Engineering, R&D and Sustainability teams, along with Regional Legal Counsel, SBU Directors, Manufacturing and Functional Directors, Plant Managers, EHS Group Leaders, Automotive Program Managers and with external contacts such as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, external legal counsel, and external services providers.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience with Title V air permits, Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Waste (RCRA), Hazardous Material transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Department of Homeland Security (DHLS), and Green House Gas (GHG)/Carbon Emissions reduction.
- Experience in CSRD reporting.
- Training and experience in Management System standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, other) as Lead Auditor.
- Must be able to travel to all sites (25% to 35% of the time) with occasional global travel.
- Excellent human relations, communications, analytical, and computer skills.
- Ability to present information to audiences ranging from production team members to the NSG Group CEO.
- Master’s degree in engineering or environmental science, or equivalent curriculum.
- Qualified Lead/Internal Management Systems Auditor.
- Direct experience with major air programs (Title V Permits, PSD, NSPS, NESHAP, RMP).
- Experience responding to customer ESG/Sustainability reporting.
