Sr. Electrical Engineer

Arrowhead Talent Solutions is assisting a manufacturer in the Greater Toledo OH area with filling a Sr. Electrical Engineer.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Sr. Electrical Engineer will drive the strategy, execution, and oversight of major capital projects at our primary industrial manufacturing facility. This role focuses on advanced power distribution system design, implementation, and long-term asset reliability, alongside the seamless integration of industrial control systems to ensure optimal, safe, and efficient plant operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Capital Project Leadership: Spearhead the lifecycle—design, planning, and execution—of complex power distribution systems for high-value capital initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to electrical codes, safety benchmarks, and corporate objectives.

  • Project Execution: Serve as the technical lead for electrical initiatives. Scope out project boundaries, construct accurate cost estimates, establish timelines, and direct multidisciplinary teams to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

  • Power Distribution System Design: Design and draft specifications for low- and medium-voltage power distribution infrastructure, including transformers, switch gear, motor control centers (MCCs), and protective relaying systems.

  • Controls & Automation Integration: Partner with automation engineers to bridge power distribution hardware and protective relays with PLCs, HMIs, DCSs, and SCADA infrastructure. Provide strategic technical guidance on electrical architecture as it intersects with control systems.

  • Technical Governance: Draft rigorous technical specifications, evaluate vendor proposals, and champion equipment selections that maximize operational safety, reliability, and ease of maintenance.

  • Commissioning & Field Support: Direct the on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical and control assets. Provide hands-on, high-level troubleshooting support to resolve complex field engineering bottlenecks.

  • Compliance & Standardization: Author and uphold plant-wide electrical design standards, Arc Flash studies, and safety procedures to guarantee regulatory compliance and operational consistency.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Align project roadmaps and safety protocols with plant operations, maintenance, EH&S, and third-party contractors to minimize operational disruption.

Position Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent; a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is highly preferred.

  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license (or equivalent) and PMP certification are strongly preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience encompassing industrial electrical installation, maintenance, and capital project execution.

  • Technical Depth: Extensive background in low/medium voltage distribution networks, protective relays, switch gear, and MCCs, alongside a solid grasp of industrial control system integration (PLC/HMI).

  • Project Capabilities: Proven track record of managing competing project priorities under tight deadlines, evaluating vendor bids, and writing comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Safety Mastery: Deep understanding of national electrical codes, regulatory standards, Arc Flash hazards, and EH&S best practices.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership and communication skills necessary to align cross-functional engineering and contractor teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience managing large-scale capital projects valued at $20M+.

  • Background in heavy manufacturing environments (e.g., metals, glass, chemicals).

  • Familiarity with specific automation platforms such as Rockwell, DeltaV, GE PLCs, and Wonderware HMIs.

  • Experience implementing energy efficiency technologies and optimizing plant utility performance.
