Mechanical Intern
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Intern in Columbus, OH, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting real project work while learning from a collaborative team.
You'll support project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help the team deliver work across industrial, manufacturing, and MEP-focused projects. This role offers exposure to project coordination, documentation, and field observations while building your experience in design consulting.

- Assist with design portions of mechanical systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards
- Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources
- Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
- Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
- Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final check
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
- Conduct periodic job site observations and provide other services required by the contract services agreement
Required Education
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
- Specialists in building commissioning, master systems integration and criteria engineering
- Brings together technical system expertise and energy market insight to deliver more connected, end to end performance and energy solutions

State of Ohio Pay Range: $22.00–$24.00 per hour
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
