We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the skill set to provide initial patient intake, assist with direct patient care, and perform specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. At least one year’s experience is preferred but not required. We will provide extensive in‑house training that will set you up for success!

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

HS Diploma or GED required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Successful completion of in‑house training.

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

At least 1 year of directly related experience preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • CPR - BLS (basic life support)
  • Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols.
  • Ability to perform routine invasive procedures, such as HIV testing, in accordance with established clinical protocol.
  • Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
  • Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment within established parameters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
  • Performs routine specialized procedures, such as HIV screenings, fluoride varnish application and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
  • Completes patient health screenings including hearing, vision, and all CLIA waived testing.
  • Administers immunizations and medications that are not controlled substances.
  • Maintains stock of medical supplies as necessary.
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Schedules and monitors patient appointments; may coordinate routine office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • May recruit patients for studies and may participate in outreach clinical activities as required.
  • Performs patient education and discharge instructions.
  • Completes referrals and schedules tests for patients.
  • Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand‑eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols and utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required.
