Position

Summary

Equitas Health Pharmacy is a division of Equitas Health providing access, education, consultation, and management of general retail and specialty pharmaceuticals for patients of Equitas Health and other Ohio providers, as well as the local community. The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of the Equitas Health Pharmacy; for managing pharmacy staff; for patient recruitment and retention with an emphasis on patients of Equitas Health and other 340B contracted providers;

for building relationships with Equitas Health providers and other local providers; for maintaining compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements of pharmacy practice; for ensuring adherence with DME and specialty pharmacy accreditation standards within daily operations. The Pharmacy Manager also provides clinical services, such as continuing the development and implementation of the medication adherence program and patient management program. The Pharmacy Manager reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy Services and acts as an integral leader of Equitas Health working to assure financial planning, strategic planning, fundraising, administration, and advocacy.

Essential Job Functions

The position requires traveling, driving or having reliable transportation; written communication; relationship building with local providers, vendors and community partners; supervising and training staff; utilizing a computer for typing, processing and conducting research; attending meetings; and presenting to small and large groups. The Pharmacy Manager must work with a deep working knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practice standards to deliver outstanding pharmaceutical care to patients and providers;

verify the accuracy of prescriptions processed and/or filled by other pharmacy employees to ensure safety and optimal patient outcomes.

Major Areas of Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of the Equitas Health Pharmacy, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and DME and specialty pharmacy accreditation standards.
  • Assure compliance with all Equitas Health Pharmacy service delivery standards.
  • Provide superior customer service to patients, providers, community members, other employees, and referral sources.
  • Facilitate management of the pharmacy with the Director of Pharmacy Services; manage pharmacy technicians, input into the 340B program and formulary, check prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness, implement services that create high patient satisfaction, and work with other pharmacists to assure financial success.
  • Manage inventory systems to assure acquisition of medications, appropriate control, dispensing, and reconciliation in compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to optimize health outcomes for medical patients.
  • Provide patient consultation to ensure understanding of therapeutic regimens, administration specifics, potential side effects, and allergic precautions.
  • Deliver specialized pharmaceutical therapy and services, including adherence programs, specialty disease management, immunization services, and the specialty patient management program.
  • Collaborate with case managers, behavioral health therapists, and other staff to ensure access to, and continual adherence to, all patients’ medication regimens.
