Medical Assistant
Neighborhood Health Association (NHA) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in Northwest Ohio, providing a range of medical and dental services across multiple clinics.
General FunctionUnder immediate supervision, the Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical functions to assist and support providers and medical staff in the provision of medical care, which includes patient triage, maintaining patient records in an accurate, organized, and readily retrievable manner. The assistant greets all patients and the general public with courtesy and respect, ensuring patient confidentiality when receiving and entering patient information accurately into the system.
Current demographics needed for medical staff, referrals, billing and UDS are supplied.
- Serve and protect the patients, medical provider, organization and self by adhering to professional standards; policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Participate in QA meetings and duties as assigned.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Be familiar with the center’s Fire & Disaster plan and the Medical Assistant’s role in that plan.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to departmental and agency policies.
- Perform related work as requested by manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- New graduates welcome.
- Current certification in CPR or willingness to become CPR certified (monthly CPR classes are offered).
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Shows initiative and ability to use sound judgment in the absence of specific orders.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Must be sensitive to cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity.
- Experience in working with medically underserved patients preferred.
- Regular, punctual attendance is a requirement of this position.
Monday through Friday; no nights, weekends or holidays.
