Position: MEDICAL ASSISTANT/ENDOCRINOLOGY - M-F (8:00-4:30) Clerical MA

The Toledo Clinic's Endocrinology Office is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant (mostly administrative duties) to answer phones, handle incoming faxes, schedule appointments, manage prior authorizations, handle referral management, and provide clinical assistance when needed. This full‑time position offers employee benefits and operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:30 with no weekend, call, or holiday duties. Qualified candidates must hold a Medical Assistant certification and a recognized credential such as RMA, CMA, or CCMA.

The Toledo Clinic offers a $2,000 sign‑on bonus to qualified Medical Assistants. The bonus is payable within 30 days of hire to employees with active, verified credentials (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, CPCT,

A). Candidates who have yet to obtain or renew their credential receive the bonus once the credential is obtained and verified. After one year of service, qualified Medical Assistants are eligible for an additional $2,000 retention bonus.

General Summary

Assists with office operations by managing incoming and outgoing patient communication, scheduling patient appointments, managing prior authorizations, and preparing patient charts for providers. Works under the supervision of the physician(s).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Consistently arrive at work on time and adhere to the regular work schedule.
  • Answer and manage incoming and outgoing patient communication.
  • Manage scheduling of patient appointments.
  • Manage incoming faxes.
  • Prepare and organize patient charts for providers (e.g., ensuring all necessary patient records and information are updated in the chart prior to appointment).
  • Manage prior authorizations for services and medications.
  • Assist with prescription refills and referral management.
  • Download diabetic patient status from Dexacom.
  • Assist as needed with preparing exam rooms, sterilizing and preparing instruments, escorting patients to exam rooms, and preparing patients for providers.
  • Assist providers as needed with patient care (e.g., assisting with minor procedures or surgeries and administering injections).

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Arrive on time and wear appropriate professional attire.
  • Complete all tasks within established time frames.
  • Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Seek appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assist co‑workers as needed.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to expanded roles.
  • Be credentialed as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA or RMA).
  • Know the Medicare Exclusion List.
Education
  • Medical Assisting degree or diploma from an accredited school.
Preferred
  • Administrative and clinical medical assisting experience.
