Harbor is seeking a Counselor Aide to join the Toledo team! This position is responsible for providing direct client support in support of safe, structured, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented residential substance use disorder treatment.
Due to the sensitive nature of the position and the need to protect the privacy and safety of female residents, this position is open to female applicants only. This is a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) under Title VII.
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience
:
- Two yearsofexperience working with persons diagnosed with substance use disorder and/or mental health concerns.
- At leastoneyear of Group Facilitation experience.
Licensureand Certifications
:
- Chemical Dependency(CDCA)/Counseling(LPC)/Social Work(LSW)
Licensuremust be obtained within
120 daysof hire. - CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certificationsrequiredwithin
90 daysof employment. - Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to bedeemedinsurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
Must remain up to date on annual Defensive Driving for 15-Passenger Vans training requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related behavioral/mental health field from an accredited college or university.
Essential Functions and
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains familiarity withthe individualized care plan forclientsand provides support toclientsaccording to the care plan. Contributes to the care planning process by providing the clinical team with specific information and observations of the clients’ needs and preferences.
- Assists clients in adjusting to treatment, offering emotional support, and helping with daily living activities.
- Facilitates group therapy activities, providing basic counseling and guidance, and educating clients on recovery principles and coping strategies.
- Provides crisis response care to clients during moments of crisis or ambivalence.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate clinicalrecordsin a timely manner.
- Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures.
- Transports clients to social activities or off-site engagements as scheduled and per Harbor’s driving policies.
- Responsible for the completion of all scheduled tasks,including care ofclients and the facility (including maintenance tickets and cleaning).
- Participates in weekly supervision, training, and development programs to enhance knowledge, skills, and personal service network.
- Completes admissions and discharges for all entering and exiting clients.
- Completes household duties and work orders as outlined on the duty list for each shift.
- Completes initial and annual Relias Trainings.
- Understands andmaintainsprofessional boundaries in client interactions.
- Maintains courtesy and professionalism with staff and clients
