Description:
Must have RRT license in hand to submit. High-risk experience preferred; if no experience, must be open to high-risk training on site. Floating required as needed within the metro region between hospitals. Includes mid-shift floating when necessary to ensure guaranteed hours are worked. Patient population includes adults and geriatrics; pediatrics experience preferred. Therapist will assist with pediatrics and ER patients; must be comfortable with all ages.
Does not require specific pediatric hospital experience but must understand basic pediatric respiratory therapy care. The unit consists of adult ICUs with 16 beds each and acute care. Treats and educates all patient populations with diagnoses including asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and other non-pulmonary diagnoses. Performs general and critical care, including medication delivery and bronchopulmonary hygiene. Responsible for the initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Handles airway management, suctioning, cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation assistance, extubation, and maintenance of indwelling lines. Responds to rapid responses and emergency codes, and performs CPR. Blood gas sampling, analysis, specimen collection, and spontaneous breathing parameters are part of duties. Preferred experience includes changing tubing and bags for invasive lines and arterial lines. Equipment experience includes ventilators such as Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista.
Professional knowledge and skills required include ABG interpretation and experience with Epic charting. Must be comfortable with high flow nasal cannula, trach collar, and various medication delivery systems. Daily census may include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily responsibilities may require assisting in high-risk deliveries. Should possess knowledge of aerosol medication setups and tracheostomy care. Travel pairs are allowed to submit;
related candidates can work on the same facility but not on the same unit. No block scheduling across all units as schedules are typically pre-made. If a traveler calls out sick, shifts can be made up in coordination with the unit leader. Completion of modules is mandatory during orientation and annually, with time spent on modules subject to specific billing rules.
