Toledo Clinic's Podiatry Department is seeking a full-time or part-time Medical Office Assistant to provide administrative support and some clinical support. Qualified candidates will have the A
-OE recognition or at least 2 years of medical office experience. The hours are Mon/Wed/Thurs/Fri (8-5) and Tues (7-3). If interested in part-time hours, the specific hours will be discussed.

General Summary

Performs various clerical duties to support the operation of the office. Rooms patients and takes vitals. Works under the supervision of the Physician.

  • Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
  • Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
  • Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.
  • Process medication pre-authorizations.
  • Updating insurance information.
  • Answering general patient questions.
  • Taking messages accurately and relaying to appropriate personnel.
  • Escorting patients to exam room. Takes patient vitals.
  • Adheres to all Toledo Clinic policies and procedures.

Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To

  • Collecting co-pays.
  • Preparing and/or submitting charge tickets.
  • Preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
  • Sorting and filing patient charts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Required:

  • Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
  • Completes all tasks within established time frame.
  • Excellent communication, phone, and organizational skills required.
  • Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

Education:

  • HS diploma or GED required.

Preferred:

  • Two years of previous experience in a medical office.
