Job Description

The Web Project Manager oversees the front-end web development for external-facing University websites that are managed by the Office of University Marketing and Communications, third-party web applications that support University websites, digital marketing solutions and collaborative web solutions with University partners to advance the UToledo brand and support institutional goals.

This role requires a strong understanding of web standards and best practices as well as skills in building and managing assets in a content management system, web architecture, search engine optimization, ADA compliance, browser compatibility resolutions, user experience, user interface, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery and CSS coding, and a solid understanding of available client-side technologies.

Position Summary

The University of Toledo is seeking a Project Manager with expertise in front-end web development to oversee the external-facing websites, third-party web applications and other web solutions in support of the Office of University Marketing and Communication’s efforts to advance the institution’s brand and support strategic priorities. This role requires a strong understanding of web standards and best practices as well as skills in building and managing assets in a content management system, web architecture, user experience, search engine optimization, ADA compliance and browser compatibility resolutions.

Education/Experience/Licensure

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, marketing, communications, business or related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in managing websites, including leadership in web coding, site architecture, and web and brand compliance to create and maintain an engaging website experience for strategic audiences.
  • A strong portfolio of work that demonstrates a technical skill and a passion for developing responsive, mobile-friendly, accessible (WCAG), search engine optimization and cross-browser compatible websites and digital solutions.
  • Proficiency in HTML coding, CSS, JavaScript, Adobe CC, Microsoft Office and the willingness to explore new tools.
  • Experience in using and interpreting Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and tools to track and measure web experience to drive improvements in front-end performance.
  • Experience with content management systems preferred.
  • A combination of strong conceptual thinking and strategic skills with an ability to understand customer needs, motivations and behaviors, and translate them into actionable deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Resourceful self-starter who can work independently and translate feedback and direction into successful solutions in a timely manner.
  • A high degree of professionalism and strong work ethic coupled with a sense of responsibility, ability to work well with others and integrity.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, tight time constraints and periodic high-volume circumstances.
