Position SummaryThe General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, rental equipment, and other building systems. The worker will maintain inventory of cleaning and perishable items related to breakrooms, bathrooms, and office needs, and assist the cleaning crew with daily cleaning, snow removal, and safety requirements.
Essential Duties- Promotes and demonstrates Wurtec’s core values (dedicated, hardworking, ambitious, willing to accept responsibility, and integrity).
- Perform (or commission) facilities preventive maintenance, repair, or improvement work.
- Ensure facilities meet all OSHA regulations, with direction from the safety manager.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all production and support equipment, including log of repair history.
- Troubleshoot and repair (or commission repair of) production and support equipment to minimize lost production time while meeting or exceeding safety rules.
- Perform maintenance/cleaning of outside facilities and new acquisitions.
- Assist with 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Full-time/in-person attendance is an essential function of this job.

- Strong knowledge and ability in troubleshooting, repairing, and specifying mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Ability to work with all departments to understand their equipment and facilities needs and provide solutions.
- Strong computer skills, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
- Detail oriented, flexible, and exhibit effective prioritization and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Works effectively both independently and as a team.
- Utilizes creative thinking skills to identify problems and develop solutions.
- Works in a time effective manner and follows systematic approaches and conducts appropriate follow-up.
- Service and detail oriented.
- Can take directions and provide back-up support where needed.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a related position.
- Experience in a manufacturing facility (preferred).
- High School Diploma or GED.
This role primarily operates in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled and the noise level is described as moderate. The nature of this role involves heavy work and constant lifting to 10 lbs., frequent lifting up to 100 lbs., and occasionally over 100 lbs. The job holder is exposed to uneven ground, confined spaces, vibration, oils, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and high places.
The use of limbs is required to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and cranes. This role requires standing for long periods of time, alternating between sitting and standing, crawling, climbing, kneeling, neck rotation, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting, crouching, driving, grasping, gripping, pulling, pushing, picking, pinching, reaching overhead, and squatting. Near and far visual acuity, and the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech are required.
