Subcontracts Manager - US, Ohio - 12 Month Contract
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Subcontracts Manager to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Ohio, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.
Responsibilities
- Lead the administration and oversight of construction contracts, including general conditions and select trade/service contracts.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle from award through execution, change management, and close-out.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters between the owner’s team, EPCM partner, and contractors.
- Review, negotiate, and finalize contract documents, amendments, and change orders.
- Monitor contractor compliance with contractual obligations, deliverables, and key milestones.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
- Collaborate with procurement, project controls, construction, and legal teams to ensure alignment and adherence to project strategy.
- Support resolution of disputes, claims, and performance issues in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain contract records, trackers, and reporting tools to ensure visibility and control.
- Requires extensive experience in managing contracts on large capital projects, preferably in the pharmaceutical or industrial sector.
- Proven success in contract management roles within EPCM or owner’s representative delivery models.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, general conditions, scopes of work, and commercial terms.
- Experience with change order negotiation, claims management, and performance enforcement.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive accountability across teams.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with contract and procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Areliiba, Procore, Aconex) is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field preferred.
