About the organization:
Vote Rev Action Fund (VRAF) designs and quickly mainstreams field-tested civic engagement innovations with and for nonprofits that amplify the power of historically disenfranchised communities. During the 2024 cycle, we ran one of the largest site-based relational turnout programs in history, which generated over 6 million contacts in seven states through partnerships with Planned Parenthood, League of Conservation Voters, and Black Men Vote.

In the 2024 General Election we ran a randomized control trial (RCT) of a new tactic, Site-Based Relational Postcards (SBRP), and found that sending a postcard significantly increased turnout by 2.5 percentage points across highly competitive contexts like PA and more rural contexts like MS. We know that we can make SBRP even stronger and boost tens of thousands of net votes in future elections.

This summer, we're kicking off a new RCT to measure the effect of a refined version of SBRP, potentially unlocking one of the movement's most powerful in-person tactics ahead of 2028!

Note:

Due to the nature of our work we are unable to hire any individuals who aren't U.S. Citizens, Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card holders), or DACA recipients.

About the opportunity:
The Field Manager we hire for this role will be the liaison between the large-scale canvassing operation deploying Site-Based Relational Postcards (SBRP) and the Vote Rev Action Fund Research and Program Team during the randomized controlled trial (RCT) ahead of the 2026 general election. Alongside the Field Director, they will be the primary "eyes and ears" on the ground, ensuring that the tactic is implemented effectively, canvassers' needs are met, and concerns are addressed quickly and creatively.

While the canvassing firm will be responsible for field operations and canvasser management, the Field Manager will supervise, support, and collaborate with the firm. The Field Manager will contribute to all elements of the tactic development and trial implementation including design, ideation, and research.

The Field Manager will report to the Field Director and collaborate closely with our Research and Program Team. These two positions may each take on primary responsibility for one of the two locations.

We are dedicated to creating an organization that reflects the diversity of the country we serve. We strongly encourage women, people of color, and others who are underrepresented in campaigns and voter engagement nonprofits to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily canvassing operations and ensure the tactic is being implemented effectively.
  • Supervise a majority of canvass team trainings, launches, and debriefs in person
  • Conduct field check-ins to observe canvassers during shifts
  • Provide retraining and in-field coaching when necessary
  • Model strong interactions through roleplays and live canvassing
  • Connect the canvassing team with the Research and Program team communicating needs, learnings, and program developments.
  • Participate in daily cross-team check-in meetings
  • Surface any implementation problems and propose solutions for addressing those problems
  • Monitor progress towards goals
  • Own and facilitate communication channels with the canvassing team
  • Develop relationships with the canvassing team
  • Balance the roles of client, supervisor, and support while participating in everyday canvassing…
