Get direction from the drying room forklift driver (trimmer loader) and department lead for what size pallets to make. Manufacture/repair pallets using pneumatic screw/staple gun to secure slats to the runners. Use sliding miter saw to custom size wood runners/slats to door size required in a timely fashion not to cause downtime on the trimmers. Clean and inspect pallets, use/hammer to drive down screws/staples that protrude, apply quality procedures by discarding raw materials out of spec, replenish stock in Kanban system, respond to bifold department need for pallets, use pallet jack to dispatch pallets to other departments, follow occupational health and safety procedures.
Repair pallets using tools provided to replace damaged components for returned pallets.
Use of miter saw, pneumatic gun, mallet, pallet jack, door types and sizes and corresponding pallet sizes required. Pallet construction/repair process. Acceptable pallet component specs and judgement to discard unsafe/unstable materials. Use tape measure up to 1/16".
SkillStrong planning and organizational skills, high attention to size details, read/interpret schedules, read tape measure 1/16" and work with sense of urgency.
ResponsibilityPerform tasks with moderate supervision, ensure all lines are stocked with correct sized pallets that meet quality specs in a timely fashion to prevent downtime.
Physical DemandsAbility to lift and carry up to 20 lbs., bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and standing for long periods of time.
Mental DemandsFast paced job, requires forethought, service-oriented mind set, and attention to safety and quality details.
SocialMust be able to communicate and work with team members and be responsive line needs.
Working ConditionsMildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. Noisy environment and mild dust.
