CNC Machinist

This position is a skilled manufacturing role requiring advanced technical knowledge, precision machining expertise, and the ability to independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC equipment

• Programs, set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision tooling components based on detailed instructions and specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, schematics, GD&T specifications, and technical references to ensure correct part production
• Inspect parts using calibrated measuring and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and gauges
• Diagnose machining issues and make real-time adjustments to tooling, feeds, speeds, and programs to maintain quality and efficiency
• Assist in troubleshooting minor machines, tooling, or quality issues
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure part accuracy and quality
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the Plant

• The CNC Machinist position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires direct work with manufacturing machinery and equipment
• Exposure to noise and machinery, and varying temperatures typical of manufacturing operations
• Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in production areas in accordance with safety policies
• Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk, and stand for extended periods
• Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb (stairs)
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Must be flexible and able to change schedule and hours of work to meet the needs of the organization
• Ability to grasp, hold, place, and safely retrieve stock, parts, and tools while working at a productive pace

Education and Experience

Required:

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, along with the completion of a machining apprenticeship, technical certificate, or equivalent on-the-job experience
• At least 5+ years of progressive CNC machining experience (milling and/or turning)
• Able to read and interpret complex blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T specifications to ensure conformance to tight tolerances
• Ability to use various measuring and inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete written, oral, or diagram instructions
