Automotive Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced automotive or manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and leading a team of skilled trades professionals to support production goals.

The ideal candidate has prior experience supervising union employees
, understands collective bargaining agreements, and is comfortable working within established grievance procedures and labor processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians and skilled trades employees (union workforce)
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and company policies
  • Participate in and support grievance processes in partnership with HR and plant leadership
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
  • Lead breakdown response efforts and minimize production downtime
  • Manage maintenance scheduling, work orders, and labor allocation
  • Promote and enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with production and operations leadership to meet plant performance targets
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
  • Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance team members
Qualifications
  • 3–7+ years of maintenance experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience supervising union employees required
  • Experience working within grievance procedures and labor relations processes
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • PLC troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including off-shift support as needed
