Automotive Maintenance Supervisor
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced automotive or manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and leading a team of skilled trades professionals to support production goals.
The ideal candidate has prior experience supervising union employees
, understands collective bargaining agreements, and is comfortable working within established grievance procedures and labor processes.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians and skilled trades employees (union workforce)
- Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and company policies
- Participate in and support grievance processes in partnership with HR and plant leadership
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
- Lead breakdown response efforts and minimize production downtime
- Manage maintenance scheduling, work orders, and labor allocation
- Promote and enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with production and operations leadership to meet plant performance targets
- Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
- Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance team members
- 3–7+ years of maintenance experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment
- Prior experience supervising union employees required
- Experience working within grievance procedures and labor relations processes
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- PLC troubleshooting experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including off-shift support as needed
- Automotive manufacturing environment
