Job DescriptionManufacturer in Toledo, OH is seeking a skilled CNC Setup Operator to join their production team and help deliver high-quality machined components that meet customer specifications. The CNC Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machining equipment to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Set up CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment for production runs.
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Verify machine settings, offsets, and program parameters prior to production.
- Perform first-piece inspections and make necessary machine adjustments.
- Monitor production runs to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Troubleshoot setup and machining issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with machinists, programmers, quality personnel, and supervisors to improve processes.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of CNC setup experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications.
- Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing documentation.
- Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar CNC controls.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Technical training or machining certification.
