Position SummaryThe Machinist is responsible for producing metal and plastic parts to print specifications and performing required machine set‑ups and operations.
Essential Duties- Promote and demonstrate Wurtec’s core values (dedicated, hardworking, ambitious, willing to accept responsibility, and integrity).
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, legal regulations, including Safety Data Sheets, OSHA, and EPA.
- Operate assigned machines including HAAS, Fanuc, and Proto
TRAK controls. - Perform routine maintenance on assigned machines as required.
- Regularly review and follow ISO documentation relating to the quality system.
- Work with machined parts at close tolerances.
- Inspect work pieces visually or with calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Follow directions fluently.
- Machine a variety of materials.
- Attend full‑time/in‑person as an essential function.
- Perform additional duties as assigned; responsibilities may change without notice.
- Aptitude for learning the company ERP, Epicor.
- Basic computer skills, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
- Adaptability to cross‑train in other departments.
- Detail oriented, flexible, and capable of effective prioritization and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Works effectively independently and as a team.
- Follows systematic approaches and conducts appropriate follow‑up.
- Service and detail oriented; follows directions and provides backup support when needed.
- Experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a related position.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Journeyman Card (preferred).
This role primarily operates in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled. Noise level is moderate; exposure to vibration, oils, moving mechanical parts and hazardous traffic conditions is common. The role requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, kneeling, neck rotation, pushing, reaching, stopping/twisting, grasping/gripping, pulling, overhead reaching and squatting. Near and far acuity, hearing, understanding and distinguishing speech are required.
