Position
Purpose:
The Operator I operates and maintains sludge, dewatering treatment, processing, and testing equipment in refinery/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.
- Consistently learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
- Operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses, measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
- Work in a team environment and readily assume additional or new responsibilities.
- Use computer programs for process control.
- Works in damp/dusty areas, rain, snow, and extreme temperatures.
- Indoors and outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.
Education / Experience / Background:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Read, write and comprehend English operational, process, safety and quality instructions.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Work alone when needed.
- Serve rotational 24‑hour emergency on‑call if required by site.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Perform minor maintenance duties that require JSA, LOTO forms completed prior to work being done.
- Forklift and backhoe operation, will train if needed.
- Pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds chest high.
- Wear and use a respirator under certain conditions.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, balancing, walking, standing, climbing.
