Quality Assurance Supervisor

Supervise all activities of the Quality Assurance Laboratory to ensure that incoming ingredients, production procedures, and outgoing finished products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. Supervise and administer the plant sanitation program for the facility, including training of personnel regarding Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety (HACCP and Allergens), and supervise the sanitarians (pest control operators) and quality lab technicians.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure that all ingredients and finished products meet established quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory standards. Coordinate testing samples according to established procedure, and develop new testing methods as required. Advise the Quality Manager and proper administrative personnel of test results and sign off on appropriate paperwork.
• Assure proper sanitation level of the facility. Work with Quality and Operations Managers to maintain an effective program. Develop and update policies and procedures as needed. Maintain the master sanitation schedule for the facility. Develop and implement training for the sanitation personnel.
• Investigate customer complaints by working with corporate customer service management and testing samples submitted by customers or control (product retention) samples. Submit complaint evaluation to corporate customer service management recommending remedial action to prevent recurrence. Provide complaint data tracking and trending as needed.
• Responsible for periodic sanitation/GMP/HACCP/food security/food safety audits of the plant and making recommendations to correct deficiencies. Also, follow up with respective departments regarding corrective action plans to improve sanitation. The Quality Leader will also provide training in the above programs to all appropriate personnel.
• Work with appropriate plant management to determine the cause of rejected finished products and implement actions to prevent recurrence. The Quality Leader will also provide technical advice and assistance to the production department regarding QI/hold investigation and coordination.
• Direct the activities of the laboratory personnel, assign duties, and provide training.
• Involved in procedure development as needed, documentation, and plant audits. This person acts as a back-up for maintaining formulas for the plant.
