Position Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing daily verification activities to ensure that all raw ingredients, raw materials, packaging, and finished goods comply with applicable regulations and meet or exceed customer expectations. The role includes managing product quality tracking systems, overseeing state regulatory standards, conducting internal and external audits, and ensuring compliance with Green Thumb policies and procedures as well as federal, state, county, and municipal laws, ordinances, and regulations.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Support the Quality Department and ensure all employees understand and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform incoming inspections of materials received and verify compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Execute in‑process and finished product sampling as required.
  • Conduct positive release of all finished goods, reviewing batch documentation, packaging, labeling, logbooks, test results, and other production paperwork against internal specifications.
  • Maintain good documentation practices and file all records accordingly.
  • Assist with segregation, control, and disposition of non‑conforming product.
  • Identify, recommend, and perform quality training as needed.
  • Ensure maintenance and control of production quality records.
  • Assist the Quality Manager and production personnel in investigating root causes of quality incidents, documenting corrective and preventative actions.
  • Continuously study the existing quality system and recommend improvements.
  • Perform improvement projects as identified.
  • Monitor compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidance.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, GMP and food safety guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions, and report any adverse conditions to management.
  • Maintain and foster a positive work atmosphere.
  • Perform pre‑operation inspection and sanitation verification of production areas.
  • Perform allergen and environmental swabbing activities as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Daily exposure to allergens such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
  • Associate degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Prior experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods, or cannabis) highly desired.
  • Experience with FDA, GMP, SQF, and HACCP highly desired.
  • Strong experience with product sampling and inspection.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, challenging environment.
  • Variable day shift availability as required by business needs.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and monitor others for adherence.
  • Strong independent work, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word).
  • Solid understanding of cannabis laws and regulations or a passion to further knowledge of the industry.
  • Prior cannabis experience not required.
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be approved by the state badging agency to work in the cannabis industry.
