Summary
The Plant Manager will provide overall management and leadership to the facility to meet plant objectives (e.g. workplace health and safety, environmental and sustainability, cost control, quality standards, positive employee morale and culture, etc). Guides the formulation and implementation of operating plans to assure the profitability and competitiveness of the plant products, while meeting customer needs and providing a safe and high-quality work environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the plant is in compliance with applicable environmental/safety/health regulations and requirements.
- Ensure that the various production areas are manufacturing products at the highest quality, most cost effective, and most productive methods available.
- Develop department managers through goal setting, training, and accountability.
- Develop plant annual budget goals from departmental objectives.
- Maintain plant morale and communication by providing plant objectives, interacting with departmental managers, foremen and operators daily while providing constant feedback.
- Actively participate in company process improvements and organizational effectiveness groups including business planning, engineering improvements, and plant strategy.
- Work with corporate leadership teams to help set plant wide goals, requirements, & direction.
- Develop/maintain accurate and complete production data. Report production information horizontally and vertically in the organization.
- Operate a safe and environmentally sound plant by installing proper procedures, equipment controls and training to meet or exceed all standards, laws, rules, and regulations. Oversee operations with the goal of continuous improvement in performance including continued safety and environmental awareness and the prevention of unsafe acts, spills and releases.
- Direct the plant’s manufacturing and support activities toward the accomplishment of organizational objectives. Develop, recommend, and implement policies which lead to the production of plant products at lowest cost consistent with established specifications for quality according to the production schedule.
- Define and recommend short and long range plans or programs with supporting budget requests to meet or exceed the expectations of customers, community, and employees.
- Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and respect for people by encouraging employee cooperation and involvement. Open lines of communication and make certain that employees are prepared to meet expectations. Provide opportunities and direction for employees through training, coaching, developmental experiences, and identifying personal, plant and company objectives.
- Continuously seeks ways to improve performance of the facility's operation and ensure that customer needs are met. Adhere to the quality system.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations.

Job Requirements- BS.,Chemical Engineering preferred. Mechanical Engineer or Science degree also consideredwith appropriate chemical experience
- Minimum 8 years relevantChemicalmanufacturing experience;prefer 10 to 20 years ideally
- Knowledge of Specialty Chemicalmanufacturing ideal but open to other chemical manufacturing backgrounds
- Proven Operations leadership experience with the skills to manage a plant of 40-50+ employees
- Must havePSMknowledge and experience
- Union experience is preferred but not required
- Ability to deal with customer problems that have been elevated and/or to proactively approach customers to anticipate and manage potentially contentious situations
- Demonstrated ability to read the pulse of the organization and to stay connected/proactively manage employee relations situations
- Knowledge ofHSEand Safety regulations
- Demonstrated project management and process improvement management
