Job Description
- Support execution of automatic transmission assembly programs, ensuring production milestones and launch deliverables are met.
- Lead PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities, including planning, timing, review meetings, and equipment qualification.
- Create and manage in-plant runoff plans and facilitate runoff meetings to track progress and resolve issues.
- Validate error-proofing plans and update PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses) as needed.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and cross-functional teams on equipment installation, commissioning, debugging, and startup activities.
- Provide hands‑on plant floor support for equipment installation, debugging, runoff, and production readiness activities.
- Track open issues, launch deliverables, and system milestones, ensuring timely resolution and accurate reporting.
- Update leadership on equipment installation status, runoff progress, PPAP readiness, and overall launch execution metrics.
- Lead Red Tag, Yellow Tag, and Green Tag sign‑off activities to verify equipment and process readiness.
- Establish and maintain equipment installation tracking boards, conducting regular reviews with OEMs and contractors.
- Support qualification and validation of manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance with customer and production requirements.
- Drive lessons learned activities and communicate feedback to Process Engineering teams for future process improvements.
- Ensure all assembly processes, equipment, and deliverables meet customer quality and production standards.
- Partner with senior execution engineers to support workload management and successful program launches.

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years of experience supporting assembly processes within an engine or transmission manufacturing environment.
- Previous hands-on experience supporting production assembly operations.
- Strong plant floor manufacturing experience supporting ongoing production (not solely equipment installation or launch projects).
- Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes related to the assembly and testing of automatic transmissions.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with production equipment and machinery, including direct collaboration with OEMs.
- Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, G-Comply requirements, and manufacturing safety standards.
- 2+ years of professional experience working with Auto Desk products
- UAW experience
- Prior experience with assembly systems. Atlas Copco, Promess presses, cameras.
- Previously worked at GM or familiar with GM systems
- PLC programming and basic knowledge. Rockwell/SIEMENS
- Knowledge of Drive Unit and electric Motor assembly
