The University of Toledo is seeking a strategic marketing and communications professional to serve as the Marketing Specialist supporting the John

B. and Lillian

E. Neff College of Business and Innovation. The Neff College of Business and Innovation prepares students for rewarding jobs in a dynamic business world through relevant undergraduate and graduate academic programs and strong experiential learning opportunities and industry partnerships. The marketing specialist is responsible for creating and executing student recruitment campaigns in collaboration with the Division of Enrollment Management, engaging with current students to showcase the Neff student experience, and promoting news and initiatives from the college to internal and external audiences.

The marketing specialist is a member of the central Office of University Marketing and Communications responsible for supporting strong brand alignment across UToledo’s academic and healthcare operations and takes direction from the college dean and works closely with the college leadership team to achieve the college’s goals and objectives.

Job Description

This role serves as lead account representative for assigned clients within The University of Toledo to provide reliable counsel, develop and execute marketing campaigns that support achievement of the clients’ business objectives and build strong, lasting relationships. The marketing specialist must understand their clients’ needs and objectives and ensure client requests align with University standards, strategy and priorities.

This marketing specialist is central to the University’s ability to protect its brand and reputation to internal and external stakeholders. The position impacts the University’s ability to attract and retain students; promote the institution’s successful outcomes and philanthropic efforts and contribute to ongoing efforts to stakeholders in programs that support student, faculty and staff satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required – May accept five‑seven (5‑7) years applicable experience in lieu of higher education.
  • Prefer minimum of four years of marketing and/or project management experience.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office. Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills and experience required.
Communication and Other Skills
  • Excellent written (including editing) and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn and adhere to AP Style guidelines.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to follow directions while working independently.
  • High proficiency in project management, attention to detail, prioritization of work and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to build relationships and develop trust with stakeholders.
  • Ability to contribute to team projects.
  • A high degree of professionalism and strong work ethic coupled with a sense of responsibility and integrity required.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, tight time constraints, and periodic high‑volume circumstances.
  • Willingness and ability to take direction from various sources required.
  • Must be flexible and available outside of normal business hours. May be required to respond to urgent matters at all times of the day and/or on scheduled days off.
