About this role:
The Marketing and Branded Events Intern will work closely with the Director, Branded Events and report to the Senior Manager, Brand and Fan Experiences to support the planning and execution of special events, and community and fan engagement efforts in Toledo, OH, the site of the 2027 U.S. Women s Open Championship presented by Ally. The intern will assist with managing the events calendar, post event reporting/tracking, attending select Trophy Tour activations leading up to the USWO, and executing other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
In addition to local travel in the Toledo area, the intern will also be expected to travel to USGA headquarters in Liberty Corner, NJ, as needed.
- Support the Brand Marketing/Fan Activations team in all stages of event planning (e.g. defining event content, location and dates, liaising with agency partners, reviewing creative, analyzing offers, creating purchase orders, etc.)
- Finalize assigned details to ensure successful event outcomes
- Assist and occasionally lead event space set up and tear down, manage booths or information desks, and ensure everything runs smoothly during the activation
- Capture photos and videos throughout the event for use in promotional materials and social media
- Assist with managing fan giveaways, promotional items, and marketing materials at all events
- Keep track of timelines and schedules to ensure that all event materials are at their respective event locations
- Actively participate in brainstorming sessions to generate left field creative ideas
- Hunt down the latest trends and tap on the pulse of culture in our Championship markets
- Collaborate with other departments, including Partnerships and Operations to ensure alignment of select deliverables
- Collect performance metrics to measure progress
- Help develop tactics for A+ customer experience and service
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist staff with administrative documentation
$20.00/hr, subject to applicable Ohio wage and overtime laws
Internship Dates:January 2, 2027 – June 30, 2027. This intern will work approximately 20 hour per week leading up to the Championship, and can expect to work 40 hours per week during the Championship.
Location:Toledo, OH, with travel to USGA Headquarters in Liberty Corner, NJ as needed
What you bring:- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to event management, marketing, sports management, business, hospitality, or a relevant field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office software - above average knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, & Power Point
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment
- Resourceful, presentable, courteous, friendly, and organized
- Good follow-up skills and ability to handle issues quickly and calmly
- Ability to work independently and support the team
