Job Description

Northwest Ohio Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Supervisor to join our team. This role provides leadership and oversight to nursing staff while ensuring high‑quality patient care in a behavioral health hospital setting.

What you’ll do at DBH

As Nurse Supervisor you will perform the following:

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general and direct supervision of nursing staff, ensuring consistent adherence to standards of care.
  • Conduct regular rounds in residential units and review nursing care plan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and follow up on incident reports, codes, medication error reports, falls, and matters related to mechanical support devices or seclusion/obstruction.
  • Prepare and deliver clear written and verbal reports to Nurse Executives regarding clinical operations, staffing, and patient‑care issues.
  • Serve as Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) for the entire facility during after‑hours shifts as needed, providing leadership and operational support.

This is an hourly position exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of Step 15 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 6:00 PM–6:30 AM. The selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Qualifications Position Qualifications

Requires current license as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio issued by the Board of Nursing.

Minimum experience:

24 months in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 3 months training or experience in employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 months experience in public relations; 3 courses or 9 months experience in counseling.

OR the equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.
