Job Summary: As a mother cares for their newborn baby, an Inpatient Lactation Consultant will serve as a breastfeeding expert. You will develop breastfeeding goals and care plans with the mother and families. Through the plan, you will work with the patients to evaluate their response to care. In this role, you lead education and quality improvement initiatives related to breastfeeding and provide educational materials and training for health care professionals on breastfeeding and lactation.
This position will work in the NICU. The above summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the positions. It should not be considered exhaustive.
- Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing - Skills:
Experience in quality improvement and evidence-based practice implementation and evaluation. Experience in educational program development. Experience in adult education utilizing principles of teaching and learning. - Years of
Experience:
At least 3-4 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably two of which in maternal-child nursing or a related field. - License:
Current license to practice professional nursing in the state in which you are working - Certification:
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred, related certifications considered on individualized basis

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing - Skills:
Previous experience in direct breastfeeding care and assistance - Years of
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience as a lactation counselor, consultant, or peer.
