Qualifications
  • License to practice nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing (4723 Ohio Revised Code).
  • MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care as directed.
  • Document patient-related care timely within the electronic health record; maintain patient medical records.
  • Administer medications (oral and intramuscular); may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified.
  • Perform treatments and assist with Doctor’s Sick Call and chronic care clinics management.
  • Participate in patient care planning and treatment team activities; respond to emergencies; provide emergency care and collect patient data.
  • Monitor and document vital signs; collect urine and other body fluid specimens; may perform venipuncture for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare patients for release and/or transfer; ensure discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services.
  • Participate in training, quality improvement activities, and support to other healthcare staff.
  • Assist physicians with medical procedures and support nursing staff during shifts; review shift reports and manage role coverage as needed.
  • Provide patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Perform inventory and ordering of medical supplies; coordinate with ancillary staff to ensure patient care needs are met.
