Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with benign hematologic disorders, including but not limited to:
Anemia, coagulation disorders, thrombocytopenia and thrombocytosis, and ordering blood/blood products. - Conduct detailed history and physical assessments, interpret diagnostic studies, and formulate evidence-based treatment plans.
- Perform and/or assist with procedures within scope (e.g., bone marrow biopsies, therapeutic phlebotomy, infusion‑related care).
- Collaborate closely with hematologists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality, coordinated care.
- Lead and support Patient Blood Management (PBM) initiatives, including optimization of hemoglobin and iron stores prior to procedures, minimization of unnecessary transfusions, and implementation of evidence‑based transfusion thresholds.
- Provide specialized management for patients who decline blood products (e.g., bloodless care pathways).
- Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing (DNP) degree for Nurse Practitioner applicants.
- Master’s degree for Physician Assistant applicants.
- Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state(s) where care is provided.
- Certificate of Authority to practice.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) certification(s) applicable to your role (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.).
- Commitment to ongoing continuing medical education (CME) and professional development.
