Licensed Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

• Document patient‑related care in the electronic health record
• Maintain patient medical records
• Administer medication (oral, intramuscular; intravenous if certified)
• Perform treatments and assist with doctor’s sick call
• Assist with chronic care clinic management and patient care planning
• Respond to emergencies and provide emergency care and data collection
• Collect vital signs, urine/body fluid specimens, and perform venipuncture for labs
• Prepare patients for release and transfer, completing required summaries
• Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy
• Participate in work‑related training and institution training exercises
• Assist other healthcare staff and investigate/document problem areas
• Review shift reports and assist physicians with procedures
• Assume duties of other nurses during absences
• Provide nursing support to assistive personnel (nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, patient care assistants)
• Educate patients on healthcare maintenance and disease prevention
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
• Perform administrative duties and attend meetings
• Schedule multidisciplinary team meetings
• Assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
• Assist ancillary staff (Health Information Technicians, medical schedulers)
• Work overtime as required

Starting pay approximately $60,000 based on shift assignments.

License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing under Section 4723 of the Ohio Revised Code
. MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination) is also required.
