Position Summary:
Unison is seeking an APRN to provide direct mental health and/or substance use services to clients in accordance with state, agency, and program policies, guidelines, and professional standards. This position will collaborate and consult with multidisciplinary teams and psychiatrists to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive clinical services that best meet each client’s individual needs.
Key Responsibilities and Role Highlights:
- Provide direct behavioral health and/or substance use services in accordance with agency and program policies.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish diagnoses and appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures as appropriate.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications in accordance with the Standard Care Arrangement and applicable regulations.
- Provide client education, referrals, care coordination, and collaboration with physicians and other members of the treatment team.
- Maintain accurate documentation, client confidentiality, licensure requirements, and compliance with all applicable laws, agency policies, and professional standards.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
- Previous experience as a Psychiatric APRN is preferred.
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS) required.
- Current, unrestricted Ohio RN and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure, including a Certificate of Authority and Certificate to Prescribe within the applicable scope of practice.
- Current DEA registration required.
- Ability to establish and maintain a Standard Care Arrangement with an agency psychiatrist, as required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, manage client appointments, and meet agency and program needs.
- Demonstrated competency in psychiatric assessment, clinical counseling, and psychopharmacological interventions for acute and chronic behavioral health and/or substance use conditions.
- Strong computer and technology skills necessary to meet the requirements of the position.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze information, draw sound conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Demonstrated personal integrity, teamwork, professionalism, and commitment to the mission of the agency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals.
- Ability to work effectively with clients who may be ill, disabled, emotionally distressed, or occasionally hostile.
Residential Programs – If Applicable:
- Previous experience in a residential treatment program, psychiatric inpatient setting, crisis stabilization program, or other 24-hour behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
- Education, training, and clinical experience working with children and adolescents and addressing their age-specific and developmental needs strongly preferred.
