Quality Systems Food Technologist
Salary $60,000 - $70,000 + Bonus. Benefits available.
Responsibilities- Partner with the Commercialization team (project management, R&D, Purchasing, Packaging Engineer, and Quality) to support a consistent approach throughout the new product commercialization process.
- Participate as a key member to fulfill ingredient and supplier review and qualification.
- Design, execute, and implement processes for ingredient and supplier qualification and Tracegains management to eliminate compliance gaps.
- Manage food safety and FSMA compliance through a central repository database (Tracegains) and maintain it to achieve ≥99% completion.
- Conduct weekly audits on the Tracegains system to ensure 100% accuracy for all non‑branded business unit ingredients and suppliers.
- Update the document library, and contact suppliers for updated documents that comply with current food law and regulation.
- Partner with Purchasing, Regulatory, and R&D on raw material change control and properly document each change control per department procedure.
- Maintain Tracegains general maintenance to achieve ≥98% completion and report weekly to the department head for approval.
- Monitor supplier qualification profiles (3rd‑party food safety audit results, certificates, HACCP, LOG, insurance, etc.) and report discrepancies to company policy.
- Research, update, and maintain all current licenses, permits, and other legal requirements for plants and warehouses.
- Assist with other compliance initiatives as assigned and support Ops and Quality on ingredient shelf‑life evaluation.
- Establish and create raw material receiving worksheets accurately in SAP and Specs system, reviewing each raw material and supplier for accuracy.
- Maintain an accurate approved supplier and ingredient list.
- Conduct minimum quarterly audits for each non‑branded business unit and report results to the department head.
- Provide backup support for the Quality Production Specs function to create production specifications.
- Support non‑branded business unit customer databases (Spec Connect, Respirotrak, Tracegains, FoodlogiQ, etc.) and conduct monthly audits to ensure accuracy and general maintenance.
- Develop and implement change‑management procedures, formalizing a change control process that documents and approves changes to ingredient and supplier processes.
- Ensure efficient tracking and documentation of ingredient and supplier documents consistent with FSMA and claim compliance.
- Apply QA document control using the five‑step process (Request, Review, Assess, Decide, Implement).
- Document and report KPI metrics for supplier and ingredient performance in weekly QA staff meetings.
- Assist the Quality team in investigating raw material non‑conformance issues and coordinate corrective action plans with suppliers.
- Perform supplier audits for the top 10 high‑risk, high‑spend suppliers.
- Review, analyze, challenge, and provide feedback on ingredient and supplier documents to ensure FSMA and food regulation compliance.
- Lead and support international business and product regulatory compliance assessment.
- Participate actively and proactively in projects assigned by the direct supervisor and the Quality department.
Degree is a plus. 1–3years of experience.
