Job Title
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Must obtain a Student Monitor Permit
- Previous experience working (paid or unpaid) with children is preferred
- Valid Driver's License required

Essential Functions
- Supervise students during playgrounds, cafeterias, indoor recess, in parking lots and/or crossing streets to ensure student safety.
- Understand and enforce rules and procedures of the school. Establish and maintain procedures to focus on positive student behavior. Handle routine disciplinary issues. Report all serious issues to the building principal or designee.
- Report all illnesses or injuries to the building principal or designee. Fill out accident report forms or other documentation as required.
- Be prepared to implement proper emergency procedures and responses for all types of emergencies including, but not limited to: fire, weather, hazardous materials, intruders, violence, assault, illness and injury.
- Inspect the playground area for safety hazards on a daily basis. Depending upon the hazard, safety aides should:
- Remove the hazard when appropriate.
- Report the hazard to the custodian, building principal or designee.
- Keep the area of the hazard off limits for students until it is removed or repaired.
- When supervising students crossing the street
- Require student walkers and bikers to wait on the curb.
- Escort students across the street when traffic is clear or stopped.
- Be alert to turning vehicles and other hazards.
- Safety Aides do not have the authority to stop vehicular traffic on public roadways.
