Program Overview- A Mechanical Apprentice is an entry‑level maintenance position that combines paid on‑the‑job training with classroom instruction to become an industrial mechanic, also known as a Master Tradesmen.
- The apprenticeship program consists of 8000 combined hours of on‑the‑job training and classroom instruction (prior schooling will be appropriately credited).
- Starts at $29.88 per hour, with increases every 1,000 hours successfully completed.
- Full‑time Monday–Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm.
- Evening classes (paid time) at Owen’s Community College as part of the program.

- Install, fabricate, repair, and troubleshoot plant services and equipment based on specifications, drawings, and/or verbal instructions.
- Execute rough and finished carpentry work using hand and power tools.
- Perform piping fitting and plumbing tasks, including installation and service of equipment that monitors and controls fluids and gases.
- Service and repair fire protection systems in the plant and outside warehouse.
- Carry out metal layout, fabrication, erection, repair, and removal work throughout the plant.
- Conduct hot and cold bending, cutting, welding, and forming of metals.
- Fabricate or repair plant equipment using plates and structural shapes.
- Repair or install sheet metal items on or around the building.
- Perform general renovation work on plant facilities.
- Paint by brush, roller, and spray as required throughout the plant.
- Maintain miscellaneous mechanical equipment.
- Rig and move heavy materials and equipment used in and around the plant.
- Collaborate with vendor equipment specialists, contractors, and local plant workers to maintain, install, and troubleshoot plant equipment and systems.
- Minimum age 18 at the time of employment.
- Successfully pass a Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) indicating high mechanical aptitude.
- Provide a written recommendation from an accredited trade school sponsor or prior supervisor.
- Provide two completed trade school instructor or supervisor assessments (assessment template provided if selected for an interview).
- Follow directions and act on instructions from supervisory staff.
- Demonstrate problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, high temperatures, and dust.
- Successfully pass pre‑employment tests (background check, drug screen, physical exam, and respirator test).
- Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, climb, bend, and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
