HVAC/R Technician
The HVAC Technician will work in a construction environment installing HVAC and refrigeration systems for new builds, remodels, and equipment upgrades. This role focuses on precise installation of ductwork, walk-in freezers and coolers, grease hoods, and other mechanical components essential to store operations. The technician uses a wide range of hand and power tools, interprets blueprints and mechanical drawings, and ensures all systems operate safely and efficiently according to industry and manufacturer standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience installing HVAC and refrigeration systems in a construction or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform hands-on installation, repair, and adjustment work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and construction plans.
- Proficiency in installing and fitting ductwork and sheet metal components.
- Skill in running and brazing copper lines and performing soldering tasks for HVAC/R systems.
- Experience with refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, RTUs, and food-service refrigeration units.
- Ability to pressure test, evacuate, and charge HVAC and refrigeration systems according to standards.
- Comfort and competence using power tools and hand tools safely on a construction site.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16" for precise measurement and fit-up.
- General construction experience, including installation and industrial work related to mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of basic electrical concepts related to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to job sites.

Work Environment
This role operates primarily on first shift, with start times that can be as early as 6:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with occasional work on Fridays as needed. Technicians typically work 45–50 hours per week in a new construction environment focused on commercial store builds and remodels. The position requires regular travel from home to job sites across Ohio and Michigan, with overnight stays possible when travel exceeds approximately one hour;
lodging costs are covered and a daily per diem is available. Work is performed on active construction sites, involving the use of power tools, hand tools, ductwork, sheet metal, refrigeration equipment, and other mechanical components, and may include working at heights or in varying temperatures typical of new construction settings. Appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are required to meet safety and site standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Toledo, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
