Position Purpose
The Non-CDL Driver at SRS Building Products ensures safe, accurate, and timely delivery of building materials to job sites, with a focus on contractors. This role supports branch operations, verifies order accuracy, performs vehicle inspections, and upholds safety standards while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure safe and timely delivery of building materials to job sites, following safety protocols and route plans.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document maintenance needs.
- Verify and manage inventory, loading/unloading materials, ensuring correct quantities and preventing damage.
- Safely operate forklift and other equipment to facilitate loading/unloading.
- Engage with customers on site, addressing queries with courtesy and efficiency.
- Maintain regular communication with managers and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve logistical challenges.
- Adhere to corporate and regulatory safety standards and promote a culture of safety.
- Document delivery processes and capture photographic evidence.
A non-CDL Driver reports to the Assistant Branch Manager or Operations Manager and typically has no direct reports.
Travel RequirementsLocal travel with occasional long-distance excursions within state boundaries.
Physical RequirementsPhysical fitness for lifting and moving materials up to 100 pounds, repetitive tasks, ability to sit for long periods while driving, and movement under various weather and noise conditions. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
Working ConditionsIndependent on-the-road work in various weather conditions, variable shifts, and physical tasks.
Minimum Qualifications- At least 21 years old (18 minimum for employment).
- Valid non-CDL driver’s license with a clean record: no DUIs in the past 3 years, no suspensions in the past 5 years, no more than 2 violations/accidents in 18 months.
- U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. (E‑Verify required).
- Drug test, background check, and current DOT medical card for vehicles 10,001 lbs or more.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–2 years professional driving experience.
- Delivery driving experience with knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Strong understanding of building materials, especially roofing products.
- Forklift operation experience and certification.
- Skilled in GPS and routing software.
- Detail-oriented, strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Independent worker with excellent time management in fast-paced settings.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Problem‑solving abilities to handle delivery/logistics issues.
- Comfortable with mobile devices, company apps, and ongoing training.
- Familiar with warehouse operations and inventory processes.
- Basic math and English communication.
- Experience with conveyor, knuckle boom, or Moffett equipment.
DOT Medical Certificate (mandatory for 10,001 lbs or more). Forklift certification is preferred.
