Job Description:

Tolland Intermediate School is seeking to fill a Associate Educator for Spanish Language Exposure Classes

The Associate Educator will be responsible for leading a non-credit, exploratory class designed to provide students with an initial exposure to basic Spanish vocabulary, simple phrases, and cultural elements. This position focuses on generating excitement and foundational familiarity.

Key Responsibilities:

* Facilitate Instruction:
Lead interactive and age-appropriate activities to introduce basic Spanish concepts, including:

* Greetings and common polite phrases.

* Numbers, colors, and common objects.

* Simple vocabulary related to family, food, and daily life.

* Adaptation:
Utilize and adapt provided resources or develop simple, engaging activities and materials (e.g., songs, games, visual aids) suitable for grades 3-5.

* Collaboration:

Communicate regularly with the school administrator regarding class progress and student needs.

* Carry out other responsibilities as designated by the Building Administrator and/or designee

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors' or master's degree in education.

* Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, listening, and comprehension) is required.

* Previous experience working with elementary or intermediate school-aged children (grades K-5) in an educational, recreational, or group setting is highly preferred.

* Ability to work independently and on a team and to collaborate with educational teams.

* Understanding of up-to-date instructional technology and educational software.

* Ability to keep information confidential.

* Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Non-certified 10 Month Position. 7.5 hours per day with a half hour unpaid lunch break. Hours are approximately 8:30am - 4pm. Pay is $23.44 per hour. Position has paid time off, holiday pay, medical/vision/dental and life insurance available and participation in the district 401A plan.
