Union Elementary School District is seeking dependable and student-focused District Substitutes who are committed to creating positive learning environments and supporting student success.

At Union ESD, our substitutes play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning while building meaningful relationships with students and staff. With three K-8 schools serving fewer than 700 students each, substitutes become valued members of our educational community and have the opportunity to make a difference every day.

The District Substitute provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher. This role follows lesson plans, maintains a positive learning environment, and supports students' academic and behavioral expectations while ensuring a safe and productive classroom.

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with school and district expectations.
• Supervise students during classroom activities and other assigned duties.
• Communicate effectively with school staff and administration.
• Adapt to various grade levels, subjects, and classroom settings.
• Complete attendance and other required documentation.
• Promote student engagement and learning during teacher absences.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Arizona Substitute Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
