The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Wastewater Operator I/ Semi Truck Trailer Driver. The primary function of an employee in this class is loading biosolids and transporting to disposal site, and to learn to perform technical operations, maintenance, and repair of Wastewater Treatment Plants and associated equipment. Incumbents work with certified operators under close supervision.

Collecting and testing of wastewater samples;
Performing routine maintenance;
Conducting routine lab testing;
Operating heavy equipment;
Performing minor repairs;
Completing logs and work orders;
Reading/recording totalizers;
Recording data;
Managing biosolids;
Reclaim water systems;
Gas chlorination equipment;
Auto sampler operation; and ensuring all equipment is operating within specified parameters.
A High School diploma from an accredited institution or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent. A valid Arizona driver's license required. ADEQ Operator certifications preferred, and a Wastewater Operator grade 1 certification, or ability to obtain a Grade 1 certification within one (1) year from date of hire. Valid Arizona CDL Driver's license required.
Required ExperienceDriving a Semi-Tractor, with manual transmission, and end dump and/or side dump trailer, within the last 7 years. Operating heavy equipment (Dump Truck, Fork Lifts, Front End Loader, Back Hoe) Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations.
Additional Requirements- Must be able to work swing and/or night shifts after training. This is an entry level operator position and shift selection is based on seniority.

- Incumbent will be required to be SCBA certified.

Medium:
Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.
Full Salary Range : $24.15 - $33.82 Hourly
