The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist is responsible for driving operational excellence across the manufacturing operation by identifying areas of waste, improving processes, and implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and problem‑solving methodologies. This role collaborates with cross‑functional teams to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Explore your tasks and responsibilitiesProcess Improvement & Optimization
- Identify, scope, and lead CI projects focused on improving throughput, reducing defects, and eliminating waste (using Lean, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, VSM, etc.).
- Analyze production data to uncover trends and performance gaps.
- Conduct time studies, root cause analyses, and bottleneck assessments.
- Facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement workshops.
- Train and coach teams on Lean tools and standard work.
- Support implementation of Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC) when applicable.
- Partner with operations, quality, engineering, and maintenance to design and sustain improved processes.
- Standardize best practices into SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Monitor performance metrics (OEE, scrap, cycle time, downtime) and support corrective actions.
- Lead teams through structured change initiatives.
- Promote a safety‑first mindset in all improvement activities.
- Influence cultural adoption of CI principles across the manufacturing floor.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred).
- 2–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or CI roles.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of Lean tools (Kanban, 5S, VSM, A3, PDCA).
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Minitab, etc.).
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence without authority.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
