- Process Engineer II (On-Site, Tolleson, AZ) About the Role Join the dynamic team at Corning's Solar Plant as a Process Engineer II and play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence on the manufacturing floor. This full-time, on-site position offers hands-on engineering challenges and the chance to collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
Ideal for engineers passionate about problem-solving and process optimization, this six-month assignment has the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct engineering support on the manufacturing floor to troubleshoot equipment, product, and process issues
- Analyze process data and observations to identify root causes and recommend effective improvements
- Implement and verify corrective actions to boost product quality, equipment uptime, and process stability
- Support equipment commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and process optimization initiatives
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and external vendors to resolve issues and sustain improvements
- Maintain and update procedures, standard work, and technical documentation, ensuring clear communication of findings and recommendations
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related STEM field
- At least 2 years hands-on process engineering experience in a manufacturing, production, or plant environment (post-graduation) - Strong troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven track record in identifying and resolving equipment, product, or operational issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with aptitude for technical documentation
- Commitment to safety and adherence to plant procedures Preferred Skills
- Experience with root cause analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with process controls, manufacturing systems, data analysis tools, and production performance metrics
- Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor
