Regional Service Manager
The Regional Service Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing service departments within an assigned region. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable maintenance operations while maintaining high standards for vehicle readiness, regulatory compliance, customer service, and technician performance.
The Regional Service Manager partners with branch leaders, service managers, fleet operations, rental and leasing teams, and other business partners to improve service performance, reduce vehicle downtime, control maintenance costs, and ensure the reliability of the regional fleet.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership, direction, and operational support to service managers, shop supervisors, technicians, and other service team members throughout the assigned region.
- Establish consistent service procedures, performance expectations, and operating standards across all regional locations.
- Monitor preventive maintenance schedules, repair quality, vehicle downtime, work-order completion, and fleet availability.
- Ensure rental and lease vehicles are properly maintained and returned to service safely and efficiently.
- Review regional service performance, including productivity, labor utilization, technician efficiency, maintenance expenses, repair turnaround time, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve service profitability, operational efficiency, and overall fleet performance.
- Analyze maintenance trends and identify opportunities to reduce repeat repairs, outside repair expenses, vehicle downtime, and unnecessary costs.
- Ensure preventive maintenance inspections and repairs are completed according to company standards, manufacturer specifications, customer agreements, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular visits to regional service locations to evaluate shop operations, safety practices, staffing levels, equipment needs, and service quality.
- Partner with branch and operations leadership to establish service priorities based on fleet requirements and customer commitments.
- Support service managers with workload planning, technician scheduling, shop capacity, and repair prioritization.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop service managers and other service leaders within the region.
- Establish individual and departmental performance goals and hold service leaders accountable for achieving results.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, selecting, onboarding, training, and retaining qualified technicians and service leaders.
- Identify technician training and development needs and help establish career-development opportunities.
- Promote a positive, professional, and performance-focused work environment.
- Ensure all service locations comply with company safety policies, environmental requirements, OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Partner with the Safety Department to address safety concerns, workplace incidents, regulatory requirements, and corrective-action plans.
- Monitor the condition of service facilities, tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment and recommend necessary repairs, replacements, or capital investments.
- Review warranty opportunities and ensure eligible repairs are properly documented and submitted.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with manufacturers, dealerships, parts suppliers, outside repair vendors, and other service providers.
- Evaluate vendor performance, repair quality, response time, and pricing to ensure cost-effective service.
- Assist with the development and management of regional service budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and capital-expenditure requests.
- Review operational and financial reports and provide service updates, recommendations, and action plans to senior leadership.
- Respond to escalated customer or operational concerns and ensure timely and appropriate resolution.
- Support new location openings, acquisitions, system implementations, and other regional business initiatives.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
