THE ROLE
Fabrication/Machine Operator
Location: Tolleson, AZ
Reports To: Director, Engineering and Manufacturing Operations
Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt
Our OpportunityThe Fabricator/Machine Operator will operate fabrication machines such as band saws, drills, break & shear, and iron worker for assembly or painting by performing the following duties.
Your Responsibilities- Read job specifications from shop drawings or blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, jig or template.
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Stack, mark, and pack finished work pieces.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience that includes the ability to read shop drawings or blueprints and perform daily maintenance on machines used.
- Basic computer skills in a windows environment/ERP system is required.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability of perform basic calculations using a calculator. Must be able to read and use tape measure; frequently uses an overhead crane, forklift truck and combination square, job crane, wrenches, drill bit sharpener and screwdrivers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Physical requirements include regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds when turning parts over, dependent on the part being painted.
- Employee must wear OSHA approved safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
