Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining production and packaging equipment to ensure optimal machinery performance, minimize scrap, and support nonstop production.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform timely mechanical checks and maintain proper equipment adjustments.
- Keep cycle settings and production quality consistent.
- Comply with safety policies, perform LOTO where required.
- Conduct equipment evaluation at shift start and diagnose malfunctions.
- Respond immediately to all production alerts.
- Conduct quality inspections of baggers, film, prints, etc., documenting findings.
- Coordinate film roll changes and manage film rack organization.
- Inform leadership of quality deviations to trigger corrective action.
- Maintain clean, safe work area.
- Assist packers with rework when possible.
- Perform other duties as directed by Production Lead, Team Supervisor or Department Manager.
High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and high sense of urgency.
- Basic computer skills; ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Planning & Organizing: Organize work efficiently and analyze data.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply best practices and adapt to changing production conditions.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with other departments and internal support.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
- Multi‑Tasking: Detail‑oriented, team player, and deadline driven.
- Frequent listening and information exchange in a fast‑paced environment.
- Operation of production equipment and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts).
- Moving, bending, twisting, reaching, and other manual tasks.
- Indoor environment with moving mechanical parts and high heat.
- Exposure to loud noises, odors, and particulate matter.
- PPE required: hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses with side guards.
- Shift lengths: 8, 10, or 12+ hours; weekdays, weekends, and overtime possible.
