Georgia-Pacific is looking for safety-oriented individuals to join our team as an Assistant Machine Operator in Tolleson, AZ.

Compensation
  • $25.75 per hour
  • Shift differential $1.00 per hour between 7 pm and 7 am
  • Potential to increase compensation based on skills and contribution
  • Eligible for Performance Pay program with up to 6% quarterly bonus
Shift Schedule
  • Facility works a 5‑2‑2‑5 schedule.
  • Shifts are 12 hours: 7 am‑7 pm and 7 pm‑7 am; rotates both shifts.
  • Every 2 weeks alternate between day and night.
  • Only candidates able to work this schedule will be considered.
  • Tolleson uses a point‑based attendance program.
Responsibilities
  • Operate the line with minimal supervision while maintaining facility standards in safety, productivity, waste, housekeeping, and quality.
  • Operate the line while the lead operator assists other lines or performs other tasks.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments; operate line systems with minimal supervision, including manual duties such as hand packing.
  • Set up machine for make‑ready/changeover according to production schedules.
  • Consistently look for improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within quality standards.
  • Promote safety excellence through employee involvement and ownership.
  • Scan all material related to the job ticket into Plex at time of use and record scrap correctly after consumption.
  • Maintain and clean machines and work area as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ year experience operating production machinery.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, military, or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both standard and metric units.
  • Work rotating 12‑hour shifts on a 5‑2‑2‑5 schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience as a paper setter, operator, tender, or printing process.
  • 1+ year experience working in a maintenance department.
  • Experience with the make‑ready process to prepare equipment for a new job.
  • Experience troubleshooting machine setup, adjusting machines, and solving key issues safely.
  • Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting 35 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, sitting, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day in a loud/noisy, high‑volume environment.

For this role, we anticipate paying $25.75 per hour.
