Job SummaryThis role primarily supports operational needs in the FOAM department. The Packer visually inspects product being produced—foam cups, paper cups, and lids—ensures proper separation and packaging, notifies relevant personnel when quality, food safety, or production problems arise, and guarantees only quality product is packaged into finished cases. The Packer follows GMPs and supports smooth flow of the product through the packaging room while responding to equipment malfunction signals.
Safety- Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP, and SQF process requirements and reports non‑compliance immediately.
- Ensures adequate supplies (tape, bagging, knockdown cases, etc.) are available; obtains supplies or notifies Utility as needed.
- Attends scheduled shifts, pre‑shift, and safety meetings as required.
- Constructs and seals cartons according to product order specifications and labels correctly.
- Visually inspects product prior to bagging and opens random logs for close inspection.
- Notifies Production Leader or Operator of any identified quality defects immediately.
- Packs product into cartons, sets aside defective product, and maintains clear packing bins.
- Assists other team members and responds to product jams, clearing them and restarting equipment safely.
- Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Lead Packer, Lead PEO, or Shift Supervisor.
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills:

- Observe and assess information in a fast‑paced environment.
- Operate production equipment such as densifier, melter, and baler.
- Frequent movement of materials up to 30 pounds, bending, twisting, and reaching motions.
- Possible stationary periods and standing/sitting for up to 12‑hour shifts.
- Manual inspection, handling, and use of hands and arms, including lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crawling, or crouching.
- Workspace contains moving mechanical parts.
- Indoor manufacturing environment with possible exposure to extreme heat.
- Continuous noise, odors, and occasional airborne particles.
- PPE required at all times (hairnet, beard‑net, gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses with side guards).
- Ability to work 8+, 10+, or 12+ hour shifts.
- Availability for weekdays, weekends, and overtime as designated.
Compensation starts after 31 days of hire and includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. PTO, holidays, short‑ and long‑term disability, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are provided. A 401(k) plan with company match starts after 60 days.
