Position
Lead Machine Operator – Tolleson, AZ
Salary- $32.00 per hour
- Shift differential is $1.00 per hour for hours between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM
- Potential for performance‑based bonus up to 6% quarterly
- 5‑2‑2‑5 schedule with 12‑hour shifts (6:45 AM–7:00 PM and 6:45 PM–7:00 AM)
- Rotating between day and night shifts every two weeks
- Candidates must be able to work this schedule and a point‑based attendance program
Georgia‑Pacific’s Mailers division is part of the Packaging and Cellulose business, expanding product lines and launching new recyclable padded mailer products.
Responsibilities- Lead teams on one or more lines with minimal supervision, providing direction to assistant, utility, and other machine operators
- Maintain facility standards in safety, productivity, waste reduction, housekeeping, and quality
- Perform minor mechanical repairs, adjustments, and handpacking duties
- Execute make‑ready and changeover machine setups according to production schedules
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks
- Continuously seek improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production while meeting quality standards
- Promote safety excellence and employee ownership of safe practices
- Scan job‑ticket materials into Plex and record scrap accurately
- Conduct required quality inspections and maintain accurate test records
- Maintain and clean machines and the working area as needed
- 2+ years of experience operating production machinery
- Previous lead or leadership experience in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment
- Experience in web or continuous manufacturing
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to work rotating 12‑hour shifts on a 5‑2‑2‑5 schedule
- 3+ years of experience as a paper setter, operator, tender, or in printing processes (offset, digital, web, coropgrating, or converting)
- 2+ years of experience working in a maintenance department
- Experience with make‑ready processes and troubleshooting machine setups
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, or smart devices
- Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, sitting, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day in a loud/noisy, high‑volume environment
- Prolonged periods on feet and occasional lifting of 35 lbs
