Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all Food Safety and Quality (FS&Q) activities at the manufacturing site, including sanitation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company FS&Q policies and GFSI certification.
  • Supervise plant‑level FS&Q and sanitation team members.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review, verification, validation, and management of the facility’s FS&Q system, including Food Safety Plan, Food Defense Plan, Food Quality Plan, and related prerequisite programs such as formula control, mock trace and recall, consumer complaint management, GMPs, allergen control, environmental pathogen control, construction controls, calibration, document control, identity preserved, SPC, corrective and preventative actions, and verification and validation programs.
  • Oversee sanitation resources and department, including SSOPs, Master Sanitation Schedule, sanitation effectiveness, sanitation verification activities, and pest control.
  • Serve as the site’s Preventative Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) and GFSI practitioner.
  • Act as the facility’s FS&Q lead on regulatory inspections, customer audits, and third‑party audits.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives through collaboration with Operations, Corporate FS&Q, and other support functions.
  • Manage consumer complaints, establish trending, implement corrective actions and provide professionally acceptable written resolution within a timely basis.
  • Establish operating and capital budgets for FS&Q and identify projects that impact FS&Q as part of the facility’s capital plan.
  • Provide direction and guidance during an FS&Q event, ensuring product protection and identification of root cause, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage and support R&D plant testing and projects that qualify new ingredients, suppliers, formulas or processes.
  • Monitor and report monthly on FS&Q KPIs and metrics, leading efforts to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain the implementation and utilization of a SPC system such as Infinity QS for real‑time process control and data‑driven decision making by operators.
  • Maintain the Quality Module and Inspection Characteristics in SAP, ensuring new workflows are executed timely and accurately.
  • Work with facility leadership and Corporate FS&Q to execute the required FS&Q employee training program.
  • Develop team member skill sets by conducting evaluations and recommending development opportunities through continuing education, seminars, trade shows and other methods.
  • Serve as backup for QA Manager, QA Supervisor, Quality System Technologist or Director of Food Safety/Quality Assurance when needed.
  • Adhere to the company’s food safety, physical safety, conduct, sanitation, and GMP policies and other company policies.
Job Tasks and Working Conditions
  • Use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and other equipment as established in company policies.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds; frequently perform carrying, bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive motion tasks.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Food Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • Strong ability to manage cross‑functionally and drive support for FS&Q initiatives with all leaders in the facility.
  • Balanced technical skill set with a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in Food Safety and Quality.
